About the Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has opened for a Salaried General Practitioner to join a welcoming and progressive primary care team serving the community of Abertillery in South Wales. Working across both Cwm Calon Surgery and Aberbeeg Medical Practice, you will contribute to delivering high-quality, patient-focused care while collaborating with a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Practice Overview
The service supports approximately 5,500 patients within the former mining communities of the South Wales Valleys. The practice has an established reputation as a training practice, providing teaching opportunities for GP trainees and medical students.
The clinical team includes:
- 3 GP Partners
- 2 Salaried GPs
- GP Registrars and Medical Students
- Practice Nurses
- Healthcare Assistants
- Independent Prescribing Clinical Pharmacist
- Dedicated Prescribing and Administrative Support Team
GP Support Officers
A GP Partner also holds a leadership role within the local Network Cluster, allowing the practice to actively contribute to shaping primary care services in the region.

Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care
- Provide comprehensive primary care consultations for registered patients.
- Diagnose and manage acute and chronic medical conditions.
- Deliver preventative healthcare and health promotion advice.
- Work collaboratively with nursing and allied health professionals.
Patient-Centred Practice
- Build strong relationships with patients and their families.
- Ensure care plans reflect individual patient needs and preferences.
- Support patients with long-term conditions through structured management plans.
Team Collaboration
- Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and practice development discussions.
- Contribute to clinical governance and quality improvement activities.
- Support education and supervision of trainees where appropriate.

Essential Requirements
Qualifications
- MBChB / MBBS medical degree
- MRCGP qualification and Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT)
- Full registration with the General Medical Council
- Inclusion on the All Wales Medical Performers List or willingness to apply

Additional Requirements
This role requires a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 exceptions for healthcare roles.
Applicants requiring sponsorship must meet the eligibility criteria for the **UK Skilled Worker visa.
Overseas applicants may also need to provide criminal record certificates from countries where they have lived for more than 12 months within the past 10 years.
