Job Description
Staff High-Speed Analog Electronics Engineer is a role at OLIX.
Artificial intelligence is getting better and better at a fast pace. It is moving faster than any technology that came before it. This fast growth has shown us that we have some problems with our infrastructure. We just cannot make chips or make enough power fast enough to meet the high demand. The way we do things now has not changed much in over ten years. It has reached its limits. The next big jump will come from a different approach that gives us much higher speed and better energy efficiency. This is one of the economic opportunities of our time and it will likely give rise to the most important company of the next ten years.
At OLIX we are working on that change with our Optical Tensor Processing Unit. This is a kind of architecture that gives us performance and power efficiency that we cannot get with the chips we use today.
About the Position
We are looking for a skilled Staff High-Speed Analog Electronics Engineer to lead the design and implementation of precision analog and mixed-signal systems. These systems are the backbone of our Optical Tensor Processing Unit technology. This is a leadership role that is perfect for someone with a lot of experience in designing ultra-high-speed analog systems optimizing signal and power integrity and integrating analog and digital domains seamlessly. You will work closely with teams that include optics specialists, digital designers and FPGA experts to make sure we have signal quality precise timing and reliable operation in our next-generation AI hardware.
Responsibilities
- You will be in charge of the whole process for designing high-speed analog and mixed-signal circuits from concept to simulation, layout and validation for Optical Tensor Processing Unit applications.
- You will oversee the development of printed circuit boards with a focus on high-frequency signal integrity. You will do layout critiques, parasitic extraction and electromagnetic modeling.
- You will work with engineering teams to achieve tight integration between electronic and photonic elements.
- You will develop techniques for preserving signal integrity, power delivery and low-noise performance in compact high-density ultra-fast systems.
- You will do in-depth lab characterization and validation using equipment like high-bandwidth oscilloscopes and vector network analyzers.
- You will. Execute test fixtures and bring-up protocols for both prototype and production hardware stages.
- You will lead the analysis of failures. Take corrective actions for issues involving signal degradation, crosstalk, power noise, thermal impacts or EMI.
- You will. Develop junior team members through structured design reviews and sharing best practices in analog and mixed-signal engineering.
- You will lead troubleshooting and system-level validation across electrical, firmware and optical disciplines.
- You will. Promote company-wide standards for analog board design, rigorous testing, thorough documentation and quality assurance processes.
Required Qualifications and Expertise
- You need to have twelve years or more of experience in paced environments focused on high-speed analog and mixed-signal prototyping and development.
- You need to be very good at working with high-speed components like ADCs, DACs, laser drivers and transimpedance amplifiers.
- You need to be an expert in integrity analysis, noise budgeting and simulation environments.
- You need to have designed and verified analog front-ends for high-speed digital interfaces.
- You need to have hands-on experience with silicon bring-up validation flows and debug of custom analog or mixed-signal ICs or ASICs at the board level.
- You need to be good at building automated test setups and scripts for analog and mixed-signal characterization.
- You need to have diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities for resolving complex analog performance or integrity problems.
- You need to have a Bachelors degree or higher in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or a related field.
- You need to be comfortable working in a velocity collaborative setting working across digital, optical, firmware and software boundaries.
What We Offer
- We offer a competitive base salary of one hundred sixty-two thousand to one hundred ninety-eight thousand pounds per year depending on your experience and expertise.
- We offer an equity grant so you can share in the success of the company.
- We offer a Living-Local Bonus of twenty-four thousand pounds per year if you live near our office.
- We offer tier private medical and dental insurance.
- We offer time off including twenty-five days of holiday plus all UK public bank holidays.
- We offer cutting-edge equipment, including M4 Mac and anything else you need to do your job.
- We offer a focus-optimized workstation and premium noise-cancelling headphones.
- We offer on-site high-end printing facilities for rapid prototyping and experimentation.
- We offer chef-prepared meals during sessions and unlimited coffee and tea.
Relocation & International Hiring
We hire from all over the world and offer visa sponsorships for the best and brightest. For more detailed information on the UK Skilled Worker visa and the application process, you can consult the official UK government website: Skilled Worker visa: Overview.
Important Note on Export Controls
Because of the UK and global export control regulations around the latest and greatest in electronic devices and AI technologies, your eligibility for working at OLIX will be dependent upon your last country of citizenship or permanent residence. We cannot hire individuals whose last country of citizenship or permanent residence falls under the current list of heavily restricted countries (but not limited to: Iran, Korea, Syria, Cuba, Russia, Belarus, China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Venezuela). If you have since acquired permanent residence or citizenship in a non-restricted country, you will still be eligible to apply. For more detailed information regarding the UK export control regulations, you can consult the official UK government website: Export controls: dual-use items, software and technology.
