About the Role
The University of Reading is looking for a dynamic and experienced Academic Developer to join our Academic Development and Enhancement team. This role plays a central part in shaping and delivering professional development support for university staff involved in teaching and learning.
You will lead and contribute to high-quality development activities aligned with the University’s educational strategy, working collaboratively across schools, service units, and international partners (including our Malaysian campus). You will help build engaging learning experiences, resources, and development pathways to support excellent teaching, assessment, and learning practices across all levels of study.
This is a full-time, permanent appointment with opportunities to engage in innovative projects that enhance academic practice throughout the University.
Key Responsibilities
As Academic Developer, you will:
- Design and lead professional development programs that prepare and support academic staff in teaching and learning excellence.
- Coordinate the Academic Practice Programme for new teaching staff.
- Advise and support colleagues on contemporary pedagogical approaches, with particular attention to generative AI implications in teaching, assessment, and feedback.
- Work collaboratively across academic departments, ensuring inclusive and effective development provision.
- Support bespoke development activities for the University’s international partners, including the branch campus in Malaysia.
What We’re Looking For
You will bring:
- A deep understanding of higher education pedagogy, with experience addressing both undergraduate and postgraduate learning environments.
- A proven track record in designing and delivering professional development activities that enhance teaching, learning, and assessment.
- A commitment to inclusive practice, working collaboratively across teams with a strong focus on equality of opportunity.
- The ability to lead innovative educational development initiatives.
