Role Overview
We are looking for a skilled and compassionate Registered Mental Health Practitioner who is also a qualified Non-Medical Prescriber to join our Community Mental Health Service in Bridgwater. This role focuses on supporting adults living with severe and enduring mental illness and complex needs, delivering safe prescribing, medication monitoring, and holistic recovery-focused care.
You will be a senior clinical presence within a supportive multidisciplinary team, helping to lead Depot, Clozapine and Wellbeing clinics while strengthening medicines optimisation and patient-centred treatment planning.
This is a varied, community-based role where autonomy, collaboration and clinical leadership are equally important.
What You Will Be Doing
Clinical Care & Prescribing
- Manage a defined caseload of adults with complex mental health needs.
- Deliver Clozapine, Depot and independent prescribing clinics, including medication initiation, titration and review.
- Provide timely medication advice during CMHS assessments.
- Monitor physical health, medication safety and risk factors.
- Promote smoking cessation and broader wellbeing as part of integrated care.
Practice aligns with national frameworks such as:

Leadership & Team Contribution
- Offer clinical supervision and peer support.
- Model recovery-focused, evidence-based practice.
- Work closely with psychiatrists, managers and allied professionals.
- Contribute to positive team culture and service consistency.
Service Improvement & Governance
- Participate in audits, service evaluation and quality improvement.
- Support implementation of best practice and policy.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding and legal frameworks.

Information & Professional Practice
- Maintain accurate, confidential clinical records.
- Prepare reports for multidisciplinary reviews where required.

Essential Requirements
Qualifications
- Registered professional qualification in mental health care.
- Independent Non-Medical Prescribing qualification.
- Current registration with a relevant UK regulatory body.
Experience
- Post-qualification experience supporting adults with severe mental illness.
- Experience working across agencies and service settings.
- Participation in audit, education or service improvement.
Practical Requirements
- Full UK driving licence and access to transport.
- Ability to work safely in community settings.

Salary & Terms
Band 7 (Agenda for Change): £47,810 – £54,710 per year
