Role Summary
Are you a qualified Nurse, Allied Health Professional, or Clinical Scientist with a master’s level Advanced Practice qualification? Do you have experience or interest in developing expertise in paediatric respiratory care? If so, this is an exciting opportunity to join an established and dynamic Advanced Practitioner (AP) team.
You will work closely with children and young people who have complex respiratory needs, delivering high-quality, evidence-based care in partnership with families. We seek individuals who are passionate about clinical excellence, continuous improvement, and inter-professional collaboration.
This role is ideal for practitioners who want to grow their advanced clinical and leadership capabilities while contributing to service transformation and best practice.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Practice
- Deliver expert advanced clinical care for children and young people with respiratory conditions.
- Conduct detailed clinical assessments, diagnose where appropriate, and initiate treatment within your authorised scope of practice.
- Interpret clinical investigations and monitor response to interventions to guide safe and effective care.
- Embed evidence-based practice, national guidelines, and professional standards in daily practice.
Leadership & Professional Contribution
- Act as a clinical leader and role model within the respiratory AP team.
- Provide professional guidance and advice across multidisciplinary teams.
- Support service transformation, audit, quality improvement and benchmarking of standards.
- Champion best practice internally and across local and regional networks.
Education & Development
- Mentor and support trainee Advanced Practitioners and other healthcare professionals.
- Contribute to teaching, training, and clinical supervision within the department.
- Engage in continuous professional development for yourself and others.
Quality & Safety
- Take responsibility for safe, high-quality care that supports excellent patient experience.
- Embed clinical governance, change management and quality improvement principles.
- Participate in clinical incident reviews, audits and service evaluation where appropriate.
Person Specification
Essential Qualifications & Registration
- Registered with a relevant professional body able to undertake Advanced Practice (NMC, HCPC, or GPhC).
- Master’s Degree in Advanced Practice or equivalent competence.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Non-Medical Prescribing qualification or willingness to achieve this.
- Completed or willing to complete Good Clinical Practice and Emergency Paediatric Life Support training.
Experience & Knowledge
- Demonstrable senior clinical experience in paediatric healthcare.
- Experience leading teams and influencing clinical practice.
- Strong understanding of clinical governance, research methods, audit and quality improvement.
- Experience working with children, young people and families in complex clinical situations.
Skills & Abilities
- Excellent clinical reasoning and advanced assessment skills.
- Strong leadership, communication and organisational abilities.
- Proven ability to work autonomously and collaboratively across disciplines.
- Competence in leadership, teaching and staff development.
