About the NIHR Dementia Translational Research Collaboration (D-TRC)
The D-TRC, chaired by Professor Cath Mummery at University College London, is a UK-wide network established to accelerate translation of research discoveries in dementia and neurodegenerative diseases into clinical practice. Since 2011, it has united nine NIHR Biomedical Research Centres (BRCs) alongside five additional centres of excellence across England, Scotland, and Northern Ireland.
The D-TRC aims to:
- Expand capability and capacity in dementia research
- Enhance collaboration between world-class academic and clinical institutions
- Maximise the impact of translational dementia research on patient outcomes

Role Overview
The D-TRC Manager is central to the success of the collaboration, overseeing operations and supporting strategic objectives. Key responsibilities include:
Leadership & Coordination
- Provide operational leadership across the D-TRC network
- Advise senior academic and administrative colleagues on strategic and practical matters
- Support the Chair, Deputy Chairs, and NIHR Collaboration Team in policy and strategy development
Partnership & Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal partners: universities, BRCs, Clinical Research Facilities (CRFs)
- Work with external partners including industry, patient organisations, and professional societies
- Identify collaborative research opportunities and assist in leveraging funding
Programme Delivery
- Oversee project planning and delivery across multiple centres
- Ensure alignment of D-TRC objectives with national dementia research priorities
- Contribute to knowledge exchange and dissemination of outputs
- This post is offered on a hybrid basis, with a minimum of 50% of working time on-site.
Candidate Profile
We are seeking an experienced professional with:
- A higher degree in a biomedical or related discipline
- Senior project management experience, ideally within multi-partner collaborations
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and IT skills
- Ability to prioritise workload, manage competing demands, and work independently
