Role Overview
This is an excellent moment to join a forward-thinking podiatry service that is actively modernising how care is delivered. The Trust is expanding multidisciplinary collaboration and digital working, creating opportunities for a Band 6 Specialist Podiatrist to grow clinically while contributing to service transformation.
You will work within a motivated podiatry team delivering specialist assessment and treatment to patients with complex foot health needs across multiple care environments — including community clinics, acute settings, GP practices, care homes, mental health services, and patient homes. The aim is to support mobility, prevent complications, and reduce inequalities in access to foot care.
This is a generic Band 6 post with pathways to develop into specialist interests over time.
Key Responsibilities
In this role you will:
- Assess, diagnose, plan, deliver and evaluate podiatric care independently.
- Manage a caseload of patients with complex and high-risk conditions.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and treatment plans.
- Support health promotion and preventative care strategies.
- Work as part of an integrated care pathway alongside multidisciplinary teams.
- Adapt practice to evolving service models and patient needs.
Typical patient presentations may include:
- Chronic neuropathy
- Rheumatological and long-term disease complications
- Vascular impairment
- Immunosuppression-related risks
- Biomechanical foot pain
- Experience working with high-risk foot management and biomechanical assessment is advantageous.
What We’re Looking For
Essential Qualifications & Registration
- Degree or diploma in podiatry
- Local analgesia administration certification
- Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council
Knowledge & Clinical Capability
- Strong clinical foundation in specialist podiatry care
- Understanding of current NHS AHP frameworks
- Ability to apply relevant national clinical guidance, including standards informed by National Institute for Health and Care Excellence
- Commitment to continuing professional development
Skills
- Independent clinical reasoning and decision-making
- Competence managing complex foot pathology
- Flexibility to travel across service areas
- Adaptability in a changing healthcare environment
- Desirable attributes include postgraduate learning, mentorship experience, and analytical problem-solving skills.
