Role Overview
This is a senior nursing leadership role within a specialist oncology ward caring for patients with complex physical, emotional and end-of-life needs. As Charge Nurse, you will guide an established team to deliver safe, compassionate, holistic care while maintaining high clinical standards.

- Ensuring delivery of high-quality oncology and end-of-life care

- Supporting complex discharge planning with multidisciplinary teams
Team Management
- Supervising, mentoring and developing nursing staff
- Leading recruitment, retention and absence management
- Facilitating learning, audits and professional development
Operational Oversight
- Maintaining safe staffing and patient flow
- Monitoring ward KPIs and governance standards
- Upholding infection control, chemotherapy safety and clinical protocols
Patient Advocacy
- Coordinating holistic care plans
- Supporting patients and families with dignity and compassion
- Maintaining confidentiality and safeguarding standards

Essential Qualifications & Experience
Applicants should demonstrate:
- Active registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council
- Registered General Nurse qualification
- Minimum two years’ experience at Band 6 level
- Evidence of leadership and clinical development
- Desirable: chemotherapy competency training and enhanced communication education.
Working Environment
The ward operates within a large regional partnership focused on delivering specialist oncology services. Teams work closely with multidisciplinary colleagues to support patient safety, discharge coordination and continuous service improvement.
