This is a hands-on leadership opportunity within a specialist paediatric pharmacy environment. As Unit Manager (UM) in the aseptic service, you will coordinate daily production of sterile medicines while supporting staff, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring patient-centred safety at every stage.
The pharmacy team is modernising its facilities and workforce to better serve children requiring highly specialised treatments. You will help guide that evolution — balancing operational oversight with mentorship and quality assurance.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
Your work will centre on safe, compliant, and efficient aseptic operations. Key areas include:
- Supervising cleanroom and aseptic manufacturing activities in line with GMP standards
- Acting as the first operational support point for staff within the unit
- Coordinating workflow to maintain service continuity
- Supporting training, competency assessment, and staff development
- Maintaining accurate production records and stock control
- Monitoring deviations, change controls, and corrective actions
- Supporting audits and inspections with documentation and operational insight
- Escalating risks related to quality, compliance, or capacity
- The goal is to keep services running smoothly while protecting the highest standards of paediatric care.

Essential Qualifications & Experience
Candidates should demonstrate:
- Professional registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council or equivalent scientific/technical manufacturing qualification
- Post-qualification experience in aseptic or GMP pharmaceutical manufacturing
- Working knowledge of GMP, QA principles, and sterile production regulations
- Experience supervising or mentoring colleagues
- Training delivery or competency assessment experience
Core Skills
You will need to show:
- Excellent written communication and documentation accuracy
- Strong numeracy and calculation ability
- Competence using Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to interpret SOPs and follow procedures precisely
- Organisational skills for managing workload and priorities
- Analytical thinking for investigating deviations
