About the Opportunity

University of Reading is entering a landmark centenary year — and we are inviting a creative, organised communications professional to help bring alumni stories and engagement to life.

As an Alumni and Supporter Communications Officer, you will join a collaborative engagement team focused on strengthening lifelong relationships with more than 300,000 graduates worldwide. Your work will connect alumni with the University’s evolving story — celebrating its heritage while supporting future ambitions.

This is a part-time maternity cover role suited to someone who enjoys storytelling, digital engagement, and working across teams to produce meaningful communications that resonate with diverse audiences.

What You’ll Be Doing

In this role, you will:

  • Create and curate engaging content for digital and multi-channel alumni communications
  • Deliver targeted campaigns aligned with wider communications strategies
  • Support centenary engagement initiatives and alumni celebrations
  • Work with academic departments and professional services to gather compelling stories
  • Analyse audience feedback and communications performance to refine messaging
  • Balance institutional priorities with alumni interests to strengthen long-term engagement

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking someone who brings:

  • Demonstrable experience in marketing, communications, or digital engagement
  • Strong writing and storytelling skills across formats
  • Creativity paired with structured planning and deadline management
  • Confidence building internal and external networks to source content
  • A collaborative mindset and audience-focused communication style

Right to Work in the UK
