Overview

We are inviting applications for an exciting Band 7 Team Manager role to lead our Hambleton & Richmond Wellbeing in Mind Team, part of the government’s initiative to improve mental health and wellbeing support for children and young people in educational settings.

The post holder will provide operational leadership, guiding the team to deliver high-quality services directly into schools and colleges, while fostering collaboration across education, health, and social care.

Role Purpose

The Wellbeing in Mind Team focuses on three core areas, each forming roughly one-third of the team’s workload:

  • Whole-School/College Wellbeing Development
  • Support educational sites to develop and implement mental health policies
  • Create and maintain resources, campaigns, and deliver training
  • Participate in assemblies and Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) curriculum delivery
  • Consultation and Advice to Staff
  • Provide timely guidance to teaching and support staff
  • Build confidence and skills to support students’ wellbeing
  • Offer formal and informal consultation sessions
  • Direct Assessment and Intervention
  • Deliver low-intensity interventions to students, primarily using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
  • Assess and respond to mental health needs within the education setting

The Team Manager is responsible for prioritising tasks, managing competing demands, and maintaining effective relationships with stakeholders, including schools, families, and external partners.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, supervise, and support the Wellbeing in Mind team
  • Contribute to service development and continuous improvement of processes and pathways
  • Provide clinical supervision and guidance to team members
  • Report outcomes and progress to the senior leadership team
  • Encourage a culture of learning, innovation, and collaboration within the team

Person Specification

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

  • Current professional registration in healthcare, social work, or a relevant clinical field (NHS Careers)
  • Master’s-level education in leadership or equivalent clinical experience (e.g., Band 6 with management experience)
  • Trained in Clinical Supervision and experienced in delivering supervision
  • Recognised Practice Assessor/Practice Supervisor
  • Experience working with patients displaying risk behaviours
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding, risk assessment, and medicines management
  • Experience in quality improvement methodologies

Essential Knowledge & Skills:

  • Legal frameworks under the Mental Health Act
    and Mental Capacity Act
  • Inter-agency and partnership working
  • Understanding of clinical governance and standards maintenance

This role is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check (gov.uk DBS check) as per the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.
