The Role — Make a System-Level Impact
This is a rare opportunity to step into a senior clinical leadership role within a nationally significant forensic Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service. Bluebird House provides medium secure inpatient care for young people across the South of England, forming part of a specialist national network.
You will deliver expert psychiatric care to young people with complex forensic and mental health needs while shaping trauma-informed, recovery-focused practice. Beyond clinical duties, the post offers meaningful influence in service development, training, and academic collaboration.
Depending on experience and interest, there is scope to take on a Clinical Lead function within the unit.

Core Responsibilities
You will:
- Lead psychiatric assessment, formulation, and treatment planning for detained young people
- Provide senior clinical oversight within a multidisciplinary secure setting
- Support safeguarding, risk management, and legal frameworks
- Supervise and develop junior doctors and trainees
- Contribute to teaching, audit, and research initiatives
- Collaborate with regional and national services to enhance care pathways
- Participate in governance and service improvement programmes
- Promote trauma-informed, evidence-based practice

Person Requirements
Essential
- Full registration with the General Medical Council
- MRCPsych or recognised equivalent
- Approved Clinician status at commencement
- Eligibility for Specialist Register inclusion (Forensic Psychiatry and/or CAMHS) within 6 months of CCT
- Section 12 approval
- Commitment to multidisciplinary and trauma-informed practice
