 Role Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Histopathology Department in response to increased activity following the launch of the new Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) in April 2026.
You will be a key member of the administrative team, providing professional secretarial and clerical support to medical and managerial staff. This role demands strong organisation, accuracy, and excellent communication skills in a busy clinical environment.
 Key Responsibilities
As a Medical Secretary in Histopathology, you will:
- Accurately input medical data and produce high-standard histological reports using departmental systems.
- Provide administrative support, including managing diaries, processing correspondence, and handling telephone enquiries.
- Support consultants and senior staff with day-to-day secretarial duties.
- Ensure patient records and clinical documentation are maintained with confidentiality and integrity.
Person Specification
Essential Knowledge & Skills
- Strong working knowledge of medical terminology.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office (or equivalent software).
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads.
- Clear and effective written and verbal communication.
- Experience working in an administrative or clerical role.
Desirable Skills
- Experience in NHS or healthcare administration.
- Familiarity with medical transcription and minute-taking.
- ECDL or equivalent IT qualification.
Qualifications
- Data input and audio typing skills equivalent to RSA Level III (or similar).
 Contract Details
- Full-time: 37.5 hours per week
- Working 5 out of 7 days
- Start date aligned with opening of the new CDC (April 2026)
