About the Role

Withington Medical Practice is seeking a motivated and compassionate Salaried General Practitioner to join our close-knit, multidisciplinary team under the ARRS scheme. This role is ideal for a newly qualified GP who wants to develop clinically within a supportive training practice while contributing meaningfully to high-quality patient care.

You will work collaboratively within a small, well-established practice that values continuity of care, professional development, and shared responsibility.

About Us

We are a friendly GP practice based in Withington, Manchester, caring for approximately 5,500 patients. Our team includes:

  • 1 GP Partner
  • 1 Salaried GP
  • 1 Physician Associate
  • Pharmacy Technician
  • Practice Manager
  • 4 Administrators

We are part of an active Primary Care Network (PCN) and maintain strong working relationships across services to improve patient outcomes. The practice is CQC rated “Good” and approved as a training practice.

Key Responsibilities

In line with the GMS Contract and PCN agreements, the post holder will:

Clinical Care

  • Provide safe, effective, and patient-centred medical care
  • Undertake face-to-face and telephone consultations
  • Carry out home visits when required
  • Manage acute presentations and long-term conditions
  • Prescribe in accordance with local and national guidance
  • Review, authorise, and sign repeat prescriptions

Administrative & Professional Duties

  • Process clinical correspondence, referrals, test results, and reports promptly
  • Participate in duty doctor and triage rotas on a shared basis
  • Maintain accurate and high-quality clinical records
  • Contribute to audits, significant event reviews, and quality improvement work
  • Support ARRS roles and multidisciplinary colleagues
  • Engage in clinical governance, appraisal, and revalidation
  • Attend and contribute to practice meetings

Development & Leadership

  • Take delegated responsibility for agreed clinical or QOF areas
  • Support undergraduate and postgraduate training where appropriate
  • Commit to continuing professional development (CPD)
  • Contribute ideas to improve service delivery, sustainability, and patient experience

Person Specification

Essential Criteria

  • Fully qualified GP with GMC registration
  • Included on the NHS Performers List
  • Within 2 years of CCT at the start of the ARRS role
  • Experience working in UK General Practice
  • Experience supporting vulnerable patient groups
  • Sound knowledge of evidence-based medicine and prescribing
  • Strong organisational, time-management, and prioritisation skills
  • Willingness to work collaboratively and share workload fairly
  • Eligibility to work in the UK

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience in frailty, elderly care, or complex needs
  • Interest or experience in LGBTQ+ health
  • Familiarity with EMIS Web
  • Interest in leadership, education, or service development
