Overview
We’re seeking a confident and capable Veterinary Surgeon with proven sole-charge experience to join our dedicated Emergency and Critical Care (ECC) weekend team. This position is ideal for clinicians who enjoy fast-paced decision-making, varied cases, and the opportunity to strengthen their emergency medicine and surgical skills while working a manageable rota of 1 in 4 weekends (Saturday & Sunday, 9:00am–7:00pm).
Our recently upgraded 24-hour hospital supports both Medivet practices and external clinics during out-of-hours periods. You’ll be working in a modern clinical environment with an established and loyal client base.
The Practice Environment
You’ll have access to a well-equipped hospital designed to support high-quality emergency care, including:
- Advanced orthopaedic equipment
- Digital and dental radiography
- Endoscopy
- Tonometry
- High-resolution ultrasound
During your shift, you’ll be supported by an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) and a rotating Veterinary Care Assistant (VCA) so you can focus on delivering effective clinical and surgical treatment.
Key Responsibilities
In this role you will:
- Provide high-standard clinical care across consultations and emergency procedures
- Assess, stabilise, and treat a varied ECC caseload
- Develop clear and tailored treatment plans with pet owners
- Maintain regulatory and clinical compliance in all aspects of practice
- Collaborate with colleagues and contribute to shared learning within the Medivet network
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
- Qualified Veterinary Surgeon with MRCVS registration
- Demonstrated confidence in sole-charge situations
- Strong commitment to patient welfare and client communication
