About the Role
We’re delighted to offer an opportunity for an experienced Band 7 Team Manager to join the Wellbeing in Mind Team in Hambleton & Richmond. This role is ideal for a compassionate and organised leader who is passionate about improving children and young people’s mental health within education settings.
Wellbeing in Mind teams are part of the national Mental Health Support Teams (MHSTs) programme, reflecting the government’s commitment to expanding early intervention and mental health support in schools and colleges
As Team Manager, you’ll provide operational leadership, support clinical quality, and help shape how mental health services are delivered within local schools and colleges.
The Service: Wellbeing in Mind
The team works directly with education providers to support mental health and emotional wellbeing through a balanced service model, with workload evenly split across three core areas:
1. Whole-School and College Wellbeing
- Supporting education settings to develop and embed mental health and wellbeing policies
- Contributing to campaigns, resources, assemblies, staff training, and PSHE delivery
- Promoting a consistent, preventative approach to wellbeing
2. Advice and Consultation for Education Staff
- Providing timely, practical guidance to teaching and pastoral staff
- Building confidence and skills to support pupils’ emotional wellbeing
- Offering both structured consultations and informal advice
3. Direct Work with Young People
- Undertaking assessments and delivering low-intensity interventions, primarily using CBT-informed approaches
- Supporting children and young people within their education environment
Your Leadership Responsibilities
As Team Manager, you will:
- Provide day-to-day operational leadership to the Wellbeing in Mind team
- Manage competing priorities while maintaining service quality and staff wellbeing
- Deliver management and clinical supervision to team members
- Work collaboratively with schools, partner agencies, and health colleagues
- Contribute to service development, pathway design, and quality improvement
- Support reporting of outcomes and service impact to internal and external stakeholders
- You’ll be part of a locality-wide leadership group, working alongside other Team Managers and Clinical Leads, with strong support from the senior leadership team.
- All practice aligns with NHS governance and safeguarding expectations
About You
You’ll be a confident, values-driven leader with a strong clinical background and a collaborative approach. You’ll bring:
- Essential Qualifications & Professional Requirements
- Current UK professional registration in healthcare or social work
- A relevant clinical qualification (e.g. PWP/CWP in IAPT / Getting Help services)
- Master’s level qualification in leadership or a relevant clinical field or equivalent experience at Band 6 or above with substantial leadership responsibility
- Training and experience in clinical supervision
- Recognised Practice Assessor / Practice Supervisor status
- Ongoing evidence of CPD
- UK registration requirements are outlined
Experience & Knowledge
You will also demonstrate:
- Significant experience managing staff and supporting team development
- Experience working with children, young people, and families with complex needs and risk behaviours
- Strong understanding of safeguarding, risk assessment, and risk management
Knowledge of relevant legislation, including:
- Mental Health Act
- Mental Capacity Act
- Experience of inter-agency and partnership working
- Understanding of quality improvement approaches and service evaluation
Safeguarding & Pre-Employment Checks
This role is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, in line with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975
