Job Description

About the Role

We’re excited to welcome an experienced and confident Veterinary Surgeon to join the friendly and well-established team at Medivet Stevenage. This role is ideal for a vet who enjoys a balance of consulting and routine surgery and wants to continue developing strong, all-round GP skills within a supportive environment.

Our Stevenage practice has built a large, loyal client base over many years, allowing you to focus on delivering high-quality care while building meaningful client relationships. You’ll work closely with an experienced Lead Vet with over 20 years in practice, alongside a wider team of four vets, skilled RVNs, and a dedicated reception team that keeps the clinic running smoothly.

With RVC providing out-of-hours support, you’ll benefit from excellent case continuity without compromising your work–life balance. A full practice refurbishment planned for late 2025 will further enhance clinical facilities and your day-to-day working experience.

  • Working Pattern
  • 4 days per week, 9:00am – 7:00pm at the Stevenage branch

Weekend commitment options:

  • 1 in 6 full weekends at Enfield 24-hour hospital, or
  • 1 in 3 Saturdays, supporting nearby practices when required
  • This structure ensures flexibility while maintaining a sustainable and predictable rota.

What You’ll Be Doing

In this role, you’ll be trusted to work independently while being fully supported by the wider Medivet community. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering high-quality veterinary care during consultations and routine surgical procedures
  • Creating clear, compassionate, and tailored treatment plans in partnership with pet owners
  • Ensuring compliance with RCVS professional standards and internal clinical protocols
  • Collaborating closely with vets, nurses, and support staff
  • Sharing knowledge and contributing to the development of colleagues across local practices

About You

You’ll be a qualified MRCVS with solid small-animal experience and confidence in general practice. You value teamwork, clinical excellence, and client communication, and you’re motivated to grow within a practice that genuinely invests in its people.

  • Learning, Growth & Career Development
  • Your career is more than just a rota — and Medivet is committed to supporting your long-term progression:
  • £1,500 annual CPD allowance plus 3 paid CPD days
  • Access to internal CPD, Clinical Communities, and 24-hour hospitals
  • Fully funded certificate opportunities and structured career pathways
  • UK CPD professional guidance

Health, Wellbeing & Time Off

From day one, you’ll have access to a strong wellbeing package designed to support both your physical and mental health:

  • Private Medical Insurance & Health Cash Plan
  • 24/7 counselling and wellbeing support
  • Life Assurance (3× annual salary)
  • 5 weeks’ annual leave + Bank Holidays, increasing with service
  • An additional paid “Day for You” each year
  • Workplace wellbeing guidance

Additional Benefits & Lifestyle Support

  • RCVS, VDS, and BVA fees fully covered
  • Relocation assistance and UK visa sponsorship available
  • Sabbatical options linked to length of service
