Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our healthcare team. This role involves providing essential patient care in various settings, focusing on supporting individuals’ health and well-being. Key Requirements

  • Language Skills: Proficiency in English is essential for effective communication with patients and team members.
  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree in nursing or equivalent practical experience is required.
  • Experience: At least 2 years but less than 3 years in a relevant nursing role.
  • Work Arrangement: This is a fully on-site position with no remote options available. You’ll work at the designated location.

Daily Responsibilities

As an LPN, your day-to-day duties will include a mix of hands-on care and administrative support to ensure smooth patient experiences. These may involve:

  • Giving medications and following infection control protocols, like applying sterile dressings.
  • Collecting samples and tracking patients’ nutritional needs.
  • Monitoring and documenting the effects of medications, including any side effects, in patient records.
  • Checking vital signs and offering comfort care before and after surgeries.
  • Overseeing respiratory and IV therapies that are already in place.
  • Educating patients and families on safety and health topics.
  • Delivering nursing care based on assessments and care plans, while evaluating progress and collaborating with the healthcare team.
  • Handling administrative duties, such as organizing health education sessions.
  • Dispensing treatments and medications as directed by doctors.
  • Running immunization initiatives and providing direct patient care.
  • Operating medical equipment and alerting physicians to changes in patient conditions.
  • Contributing to community health assessments and program planning.
  • Assisting during medical exams and treatments.

Qualifications and Certifications

To succeed in this role, you’ll need the following credentials:

  • Successful completion of the Canadian Practical Nurse Registration Examination.
  • Certifications in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS), CPR, and First Aid.
  • Licensure as a Registered Nurse through provincial or territorial bodies.

Experience Areas

  • Specialization in palliative care, floating between units, or research.
  • Background in pain management techniques.

  • Security Checks: Must pass a criminal background check, drug screening, provide immunization history, tuberculosis test results, and a vulnerable sector clearance.
  • Travel: Be prepared to travel as needed, with employer-covered expenses.
  • Work Conditions: Expect a dynamic, fast-paced setting that requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and the ability to handle pressure. Tasks often involve standing for long periods, bending, or kneeling.
