About the Role
We are seeking a Tax Assistant to join our Tax Services team at the University of Nottingham. In this role, you will support the tax team in ensuring the University complies with both domestic and international tax legislation, including the preparation of timely and accurate reports and payments to tax authorities.
The position will primarily focus on VAT compliance and customs law, assisting the VAT Manager and Customs Compliance Manager in maintaining effective and compliant processes.
About the Team
The Tax Services team comprises three subject matter leads specializing in VAT, Customs, and Employment Taxes, supported by a Senior Tax Assistant. You will work closely with the VAT Manager and Customs Compliance Manager to support the University’s compliance activities.
About You
You will have:
- A basic understanding of UK VAT law (essential).
- Some knowledge of customs law or experience in preparing customs declarations (desirable).
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- A proactive attitude, with a genuine interest in developing your tax knowledge and professional skills.
