About the Role

Ulster University Business School is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Communication to join the School of Communication and Media.

The successful candidate will contribute to teaching, research, and knowledge exchange across our undergraduate and postgraduate Communication programmes. These include degrees such as Communication, Advertising and Marketing and Communication Management and Public Relations, as well as related Media Production programmes in Journalism and Film and Television Production.

Our Communication programmes combine theoretical and applied perspectives, exploring how individuals communicate across diverse settings and how organisations across sectors engage with audiences and stakeholders. The School’s interdisciplinary approach integrates social science foundations with professional practice, supported by academics who maintain strong links with industry and the wider community.

You will be expected to contribute flexibly across teaching, curriculum design, and assessment, and to produce research and impact of a standard suitable for submission to the Research Excellence Framework (REF).

About You

You will hold (or be close to completing) a PhD in Communication, Media Studies, or a related field, and will bring expertise in one or more of the following areas:

  • Interpersonal, organisational, or strategic communication
  • Media, public relations, or corporate communication
  • Advertising, marketing communication, or digital media

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Proven teaching experience at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
  • Evidence of research activity with potential for high-quality publication and external funding.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to engage effectively with students and colleagues in a multidisciplinary environment.

Desirable:

  • Experience in curriculum design or programme leadership.
  • Industry engagement or professional experience relevant to communication practice.
