About the Role

The University of Sussex is seeking a Finance Service Desk Officer to join our friendly and professional Finance team. You will be part of a front-line service that supports staff and students with a wide range of financial queries.

In this role, you will:

• Provide a trusted first-line enquiry service through email, telephone, and Microsoft Teams.
• Support staff and students in fulfilling their financial responsibilities.
• Act as a link between service users and operational teams within Finance to ensure queries are handled efficiently.
• Collaborate with other University services such as HR and the Division for the Student Experience to understand and resolve queries.
• Deliver training and induction sessions to colleagues across the University when required.

About You

You are an experienced customer service professional who enjoys problem-solving and helping others. You will bring:

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• A proactive and solution-focused approach to handling enquiries.
• The ability to build rapport quickly with staff and students.
• Analytical thinking and attention to detail.
• A commitment to delivering excellent customer service in all interactions.
• Experience in financial administration or working in a service desk environment would be an advantage, though not essential.

About the Division

The Finance Division, led by the Chief Financial Officer, employs around 80 staff dedicated to providing high-quality financial and commercial services that support the University’s strategic goals.

• The division works closely with academic schools and professional services to:
• Deliver efficient and effective financial systems and processes.
• Manage financial risk and optimize resources.
• Negotiate favourable commercial terms.
• Enhance staff financial capability and confidence across the institution.
