About the Role

Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS) is seeking an Assistant Curriculum and Assessment Manager (Phase 1) to support the delivery and administration of the undergraduate medical degree programme for Years 1 and 2.

Based at the Medical Teaching Building on the University of Sussex’s Falmer campus, this role plays a key part in maintaining the quality, organisation, and smooth operation of the early years of the medical curriculum.

You will work closely with the Curriculum and Assessment Manager, BSMS faculty, and administrative colleagues within the Curriculum Support Team, ensuring high academic and administrative standards across both teaching and assessment processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the management and coordination of Phase 1 (Years 1–2) curriculum and assessments.
  • Collaborate with academic staff and NHS partners to ensure effective delivery of teaching activities.
  • Assist in scheduling, planning, and administering examinations, coursework, and clinical assessments.
  • Maintain accurate student records and contribute to data reporting and quality assurance processes.
  • Use digital platforms and systems to manage timetabling, assessment logistics, and communications.
  • Contribute to continuous process improvement and student experience initiatives within BSMS.

About You

You will be an organised and detail-oriented professional with strong communication, IT, and coordination skills.

Essential Requirements:

  • A good standard of education (degree level or equivalent experience).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organisational and time-management abilities, with attention to detail.
  • High level of initiative and ability to manage tasks independently.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data management systems.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a diverse academic and administrative team.

Desirable:

  • Experience in higher education administration, particularly curriculum or assessment management.
  • Familiarity with medical or healthcare education environments.

Visa and Sponsorship Information

This role aligns with SOC Code 2329 (Other Educational Professionals not elsewhere classified).

If your first Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) was issued before 4 April 2024, the salary requirement is £31,300, meaning this post at Grade 6.1 meets the threshold.

For CoS issued after 4 April 2024, the salary threshold is £41,700. Applicants may use tradeable points to meet this requirement, depending on individual circumstances.
