Role Overview

The University of Reading is seeking a creative and organised Communications Officer to join the Student Communications team within Student Services. This role is central to the mission of Student Success and Engagement, helping to enhance communications that support student experience, equality, diversity, and inclusion.

You will work in a vibrant, inclusive community based on the award-winning Whiteknights campus, with excellent transport links to London and surrounding areas. Flexible working arrangements are available.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality digital communications across student channels, including the university website, portal, app, and social media platforms.
  • Manage and coordinate digital campaigns to ensure effective student engagement.
  • Work alongside student ambassadors to produce engaging content that represents the student voice.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to support the University’s equality, diversity, and inclusion objectives.
  • Monitor communications performance and provide insights to improve engagement.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be:

  • An experienced communications professional from any sector, with strong digital skills.
  • Confident in managing complex communications schedules and campaigns.
  • Creative and able to translate complex ideas into engaging content for students.
  • A team player who supports the values of inclusion and diversity.
  • Highly organised, with excellent project management and attention to detail.

The Communications Officer will report to:
Angela Davies – Head of Student Communications

You will work closely with colleagues in Student Services and Student Communications, collaborating with student ambassadors and internal stakeholders.
