Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced and confident Mental Health Nurse to join our Older Adult Community Mental Health Team. You will be based at Whytemans Brae Hospital but will also work across community settings, including care homes, via a blended model of in-person, telephone, and digital support.
Key responsibilities include
- Managing a caseload of older adults with mental health needs, particularly those in care homes
- Conducting person‑centred assessments and developing tailored care and treatment plans
- Facilitating Stress & Distress training sessions (training provided, if needed)
- Supporting and mentoring junior staff
- Collaborating closely with multidisciplinary team (MDT) members, primary and secondary care, as well as third‑sector and voluntary organizations
Who We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will be:
- A Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN), preferably with experience in older adult mental health
- Demonstrably skilled in risk assessment, problem-solving, and crisis management
- Resilient, proactive, and passionate about working with older adults
- Committed to strengths-based, person-centred care and partnership working
- An effective communicator with strong organizational and time-management abilities
- Willing to become or already be a Non-Medical Prescriber (NMP) — training should be completed within 2 years of starting, if not already qualified
- Open to contributing to the ongoing development of the Older Adult CMHT
