Overview of the Role

Henley Business School is seeking to appoint an Associate Professor in International Business and Strategy. This is a full-time, permanent role for an academic with a growing international reputation, a passion for research, and the ability to inspire and mentor colleagues.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in advancing cutting-edge research, shaping teaching in international business and strategy, and strengthening the department’s global standing. This is an opportunity to join a triple-accredited (AMBA, EQUIS, AACSB) institution with a vibrant international community of over 7,000 students from 100+ countries and 100,000 alumni across 160 countries.

Key Responsibilities

Research Leadership

  • Conduct independent, high-quality research in international business, strategy, or related disciplines.
  • Contribute to the department’s research agenda, aligning with the Dunning Centre for International Business, one of the world’s leading research hubs.
  • Mentor junior academics and PhD candidates, supporting their career development.
  • Apply for and secure external research funding to strengthen research initiatives.

Teaching & Programme Development

  • Deliver engaging teaching across undergraduate, postgraduate, and executive education programmes in international business and strategy.
  • Design innovative curriculum content and assessment approaches, integrating theory with real-world business insights.
  • Supervise student projects and theses while contributing to continuous improvement of course offerings.

Academic Leadership & Administration

  • Take an active role in departmental leadership, academic governance, and strategic initiatives.
  • Represent the department at conferences, workshops, and academic forums.
  • Support the School’s global strategy and initiatives in international engagement, partnerships, and outreach.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • PhD in Management, International Business, Economics, or a closely related discipline.
  • Proven record of research excellence with publications in top-tier journals.
  • Teaching experience at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, with evidence of effective student engagement.
  • Experience in research grant applications and securing external funding.
  • Ability to contribute to departmental leadership and mentorship.

Start Date

The position is expected to commence in August/September 2026.
