Overview of the Role
Cambridge University Hospitals (CUH) NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly organised and proactive Transplant Administrator to join the Transplant Directorate. This role is vital in supporting the smooth running of the service and ensuring high-quality administrative coordination for patients, staff, and external partners.
This opportunity is ideal for an individual with strong communication skills, excellent organisational ability, and confidence managing varied administrative responsibilities in a busy clinical environment. You will work both independently and collaboratively, managing your workload, prioritising effectively, and supporting colleagues across the team.
Key Responsibilities
The post holder will:
- Deliver comprehensive administrative support to the Transplant team
- Communicate professionally with patients, colleagues, external organisations and clinical departments, both face-to-face and via telephone
- Manage and prioritise incoming work, ensuring timely and accurate completion
- Support Consultants, Transplant Coordinators and the Line Manager with tasks necessary for efficient service delivery
- Contribute to maintaining effective office and data systems, ensuring confidentiality and high standards of accuracy
- Undertake additional duties within the scope of the role to ensure continuity of service

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential:
- A Level education or Level 3 Business/Admin/IT qualification (or equivalent experience)
- GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4/C or above
- Touch typing skills
- Secretarial qualification (RSA III) or equivalent experience
Desirable:
- IT Specialist or Health Informatics qualification
- Medical Terminology certificate
Experience
Essential:
- Strong background in administrative roles within a busy environment
- Experience managing workload, meeting deadlines and prioritising tasks
- Customer service experience, including handling challenging situations
- Data entry, report production and use of Microsoft Office
- Administrative tasks such as minute-taking, diary management and audio typing
- Ability to allocate and monitor tasks for others
Desirable:
- Experience using EPIC electronic patient record systems
- Previous NHS experience
- Experience managing difficult conversations professionally
- Knowledge
Essential:
- Understanding of confidentiality, data protection and information security
- Working knowledge of customer service principles
- Familiarity with general office procedures
Desirable:
- Knowledge of NHS Trust IT systems
- Understanding of medical terminology
