Centre for Engineering Education (CEE)
The UCL Centre for Engineering Education (CEE) is a collaboration between the Faculty of Engineering Sciences and the UCL Institute of Education. It is a global leader in engineering education research, curriculum development, and consultancy. The Centre works to improve engineering education both within UCL and internationally, combining research evidence with innovative teaching practice.
Integrated Engineering Programme (IEP)
The Integrated Engineering Programme (IEP) is an award-winning initiative that reimagines how undergraduate engineering is taught at UCL. Recognised for its innovation and cross-disciplinary approach, the IEP provides students with a unique, integrated educational experience that bridges theory and practice across engineering fields.
About the Role
We are seeking an Associate Lecturer (Teaching) to join the IEP Mathematics Team within UCL Engineering.
This is a three-year fixed-term position, working across six departments to support the design, delivery, and development of Year 1 and Year 2 Mathematics modules within the IEP curriculum.
You will contribute to teaching and curriculum leadership at the faculty level, collaborate with academic staff across departments, and help enhance teaching materials and learning resources that support students’ mathematical and problem-solving skills in engineering contexts.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging, high-quality teaching in undergraduate mathematics within the Integrated Engineering Programme.
- Contribute to curriculum development, assessment design, and educational innovation.
- Collaborate with the IEP team and departmental teaching leads to ensure consistency and excellence across courses.
- Support students’ learning through tutorials, lectures, and interactive teaching.
- Participate in continuous improvement of teaching practice using technology-enhanced learning tools.
- Contribute to academic administration, assessment marking, and feedback processes.
About You
Essential Criteria:
- Degree (or equivalent experience) in engineering, mathematics, or a closely related discipline.
- Experience teaching undergraduate students in higher education.
- Demonstrated use of innovative teaching methods and technology in course delivery.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts effectively.
- Proficiency in engineering software such as MATLAB.
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience in cross-disciplinary teaching or curriculum development.
- Interest in research or scholarship related to engineering education.
