Create a rewarding career.
Doing things differently.
PROJECT MANAGER FOR PLACE-BASED IMPACT ACCELERATION ACCOUNT (PBIAA).
Grade I: £47,174 – £56,292 annually.
Fixed-term contract (4 years)
We are searching for a PBIAA Project Manager with a proven track record of successfully leading and implementing major multi-partner multidisciplinary research programs to join our growing team at Nottingham Trent University (NTU). This is a new post that will help the Project Lead manage a schedule of activities aimed at accelerating the East Midlands’ world-class research into cutting-edge rehabilitation technologies (RehabTech) and ensuring the PBIAA programme’s success.
About NTU’s PBIAA.
The East Midlands is at the forefront of rehabilitation and related technology, as evidenced by the government’s £105 million investment in the National Rehabilitation Centre (NRC). In 2024, NTU received £2.5 million from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council to support a four-year programme of knowledge exchange and impact activities that will catalyse the region’s success and establish the East Midlands as the UK’s ‘RehabTech Valley’, a leading hub for RehabTech excellence, similar to the impact of the UK’s Formula 1 Motorsport Valley.
Our PBIAA aims to create mechanisms that connect the East Midlands’ cluster of 459 MedTech SMEs to our region’s world-class research and innovation, ensuring that they dominate the design, development, and delivery of pioneering RehabTech, thereby boosting regional growth and productivity and ultimately transforming health outcomes and inequalities. NTU leads the 30-member partnership, which also includes the Universities of Nottingham, Loughborough, and Derby, as well as partners from medical and health technology firms, the NHS, local government, and economic development.
About the PBIAA Project Manager Position

They will be an effective communicator and influencer, able to build relationships with and among diverse partners and stakeholders from academics, the public, private, and third sectors.
The chosen candidate will be truly interested in how science and innovation may be used to make a tangible difference in the world beyond academia. They will be someone who quickly absorbs new information and intelligence, is skilled at managing project scope, time, and cost, and possesses strong leadership skills as well as the tenacity and organisational skills required to work with our researchers and collaborators to advance the PBIAA programme and deliver positive outcomes and impacts.
