Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

Pharmacy@UHB Ltd is a totally owned subsidiary firm of University Hospitals Birmingham, founded in 2011. We currently have a position at the Heartlands Hospital for a Pharmacist searching for regular contractual weekend employment, which includes Saturday and Sunday shifts every weekend, with the option of additional weekday shifts if discussed (but not required).

We currently serve both outpatients and inpatients who are about to be discharged from QEHB and BHH, and we operate in a manner similar to a community pharmacy, with the hospital clinical pharmacy team overseeing and responsible for the clinical accuracy of prescriptions for both discharge and many outpatient clinics.

Candidates must be adaptable and have previous experience working in a busy pharmacy with high volume dispensing. We seek applications from individuals with community and/or hospital experience.

This is a unique opportunity to assist in the delivery of care from our automated pharmacies. After a qualifying period, we strive to assist post-graduate education, and staff development is continuing, so this is an excellent chance for a chemist who wants to obtain secondary care experience before moving on to a clinical pharmacy career in the future.

Not banded; £29.20 per hour.

Main responsibilities, tasks, and abilities required

To guarantee the safe, efficient, and effective delivery of all pharmacy services provided by Pharmacy@UHB at Heartlands Hospital in conformity with national and local standards.

Work cooperatively and supportively with the pharmacy manager/superintendent.
Work closely and cooperatively with the pharmacy manager and other pharmacists to avoid or minimise the usage of temporary pharmacists.
