The Opportunity
Aston Business School, a prestigious triple-accredited institution located in central Birmingham, invites applications for a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Finance to join the Department of Accounting and Finance. We seek a highly motivated academic who is committed to excellence in research, teaching, and academic citizenship.
You will join a thriving department of nearly 50 academic staff and contribute to both the research and teaching portfolios. This includes delivering high-quality education across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and playing a vital role in developing and sustaining a strong research profile.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct and publish high-quality research in Finance or closely related areas (e.g., Economics, Data Analytics, Machine Learning for Finance).
- Pursue external research funding and engage in research leadership where appropriate.
- Deliver engaging, research-informed teaching—particularly in areas such as Risk Management, Fintech, and Machine Learning in Finance.
- Supervise MSc and PhD students and support those on industrial placements.
- Contribute to departmental administration, leadership roles, and wider academic community activities.
About You:
We’re looking for candidates with:
- A strong or emerging research profile with publications in leading journals.
- Teaching experience relevant to the Finance curriculum.
- A collaborative approach to academic service and leadership.
- A teaching qualification or willingness to obtain one (expected at Senior Lecturer level).
