Healthcare Assistant – Band 2, Emergency Assessment Unit (EAU) & Ward 6, West Cumberland Hospital
30 hours per week, 12-month Fixed-Term Contract
We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join the Emergency Assessment Unit (EAU), Ward 6, and Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) at West Cumberland Hospital. This is a temporary position to cover a secondment for a 12-month fixed-term contract.
About the Unit:
The Emergency Assessment Unit is a fast-paced 27-bed unit providing acute care to emergency admissions. We are transitioning into a Same Day Emergency Care unit and a Short Stay Unit within Ward 6. We are dedicated to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in a dynamic environment.
Role Overview:
As a Healthcare Assistant, you will work under the direction of registered nurses or other healthcare professionals to deliver compassionate, high-quality care to patients. You will be responsible for maintaining patient dignity and privacy while assisting in various clinical activities, including the use of appropriate medical equipment once trained. Additionally, you will contribute to housekeeping and general ward duties, ensuring a clean and safe environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist registered nurses in providing patient care, ensuring safety and comfort.
Undertake clinical tasks as trained and deemed competent, using the correct equipment.
Maintain patient privacy and dignity, providing care with compassion.
Contribute to a positive, effective multi-disciplinary team.
Support the upkeep of clinical equipment and stock, ensuring cleanliness and functionality.
Continue to develop skills and competencies to maintain high standards of care.

Essential Criteria:
Care Certificate (or willingness to complete within the probationary period).
Compassionate approach to patient care.
Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Desirable Criteria:
Previous experience in a healthcare setting.
