Job Description

Job Title: Corporate Accountant – Management Accounts Team

We are seeking a Corporate Accountant to join our dynamic Management Accounts team at Mid Cheshire Hospitals. As a vital member of our close-knit Finance team, teamwork is essential to the success of this role.

The Corporate Accountant will play a pivotal role in supporting month-end processes, analysis, and continuous improvement efforts. You will work closely with internal finance stakeholders and will require advanced skills in Excel, Power Query, and other related tools. Mid Cheshire is on a journey towards excellence, and we are looking for someone who can contribute to achieving FSD accreditation and improving internal systems and processes.

This role will not be divisional-facing but will focus on consolidating the trust-wide financial position, supporting cost-saving initiatives, and assisting the Management Accountants. Strong leadership skills are essential, as is the ability to review and enhance processes to streamline and improve efficiency.

As part of a Finance team undergoing significant transformation, you will be a key player in our drive towards excellence.

While the role encompasses responsibilities similar to those of a Deputy Finance Business Partner, it does not involve divisional interactions. The position involves processing transactions as well as providing high-level, complex financial support and leadership on financial matters.

Key Responsibilities:

Supporting budgetary control processes and ensuring timely reporting of the financial position

Analyzing financial trends and variances to identify opportunities to reduce the trust’s operating costs

Managing the Finance Assistant, including recruitment, training, and development

Continuously reviewing and improving the month-end processes across the trust, providing specialized training, such as budget holder training

Leading efforts for Finance accreditation

Supporting complex, cross-cutting efficiency initiatives
