About the Role
The University of Leeds invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join the NERC-funded SeaSTORE project, focusing on the effects of seabed trawling on marine sediment biogeochemistry and carbon storage on the UK continental shelf.
This role offers the opportunity to:
- Conduct and coordinate seagoing fieldwork, lab experiments, and sample analyses.
- Develop and apply data modelling approaches to interpret marine sediment geochemistry.
- Investigate how organic carbon decomposition responds to environmental pressures.
- Contribute to research influencing policy and governance regarding UK marine environments.
- This position may be performed on-campus or in a hybrid working format, with flexibility considered to support work-life balance.
Candidate Profile
- We are seeking an environmental scientist with:
- Expertise in marine sediment biogeochemistry and carbon cycling.
- Experience in field sampling, laboratory experiments, and analytical techniques.
- Strong skills in data analysis, interpretation, and scientific reporting.
- Ability to collaborate across interdisciplinary teams and communicate findings to both academic and policy audiences.
- Desirable: Experience with marine policy impact, seabed ecosystems, and UK regulatory frameworks.
