UCL Centre for Engineering Education (CEE)

The UCL Centre for Engineering Education (CEE) is a collaboration between the Faculty of Engineering Sciences and the UCL Institute of Education. CEE focuses on research-driven curriculum development, aiming to enhance engineering education worldwide. The centre also provides consultancy and supports external partners using evidence-based pedagogical approaches.

Integrated Engineering Programme (IEP)

The Integrated Engineering Programme (IEP) is an award-winning undergraduate curriculum renowned for its innovative approach to teaching engineering. It encourages cross-disciplinary learning across UCL Engineering, integrating modern teaching methods, technology, and real-world applications to equip students with the skills required for the evolving engineering landscape.

Role Overview

The Faculty of Engineering is seeking an Associate Lecturer (Teaching) to contribute to the IEP Mathematics curriculum across Year 1 and Year 2. This fixed-term post will involve:

  • Leading teaching and curriculum development across six departments within UCL Engineering.
  • Supporting faculty-level mathematics leadership for staff and students.
  • Developing teaching resources to advance the IEP Mathematics curriculum.
  • Collaborating with the IEP team to ensure alignment of teaching approaches and learning outcomes.
  • This role is ideal for candidates passionate about innovative engineering education and curriculum development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality mathematics teaching for undergraduate engineering students.
  • Integrate modern teaching technologies and methodologies into curriculum delivery.
  • Collaborate with faculty staff to design, develop, and evaluate teaching materials.
  • Mentor and support students to enhance learning outcomes.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the IEP programme.

Candidate Requirements

The successful candidate should demonstrate:

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in engineering, mathematics, or a related field.
  • Experience teaching in higher education, preferably undergraduate students.
  • Ability to apply innovative teaching methods, including digital technologies.
  • Strong communication skills for presenting complex concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Familiarity with engineering software such as MATLAB.
