About the Role
Creative & Print Services at the University of Reading is seeking a proactive and skilled Graphic Designer to join a busy and dynamic team. The successful candidate will work on a wide variety of projects, both digital and print, delivering high-quality design solutions that align with the University’s visual identity and communication objectives.
This is a fixed-term, full-time role to cover maternity leave, providing a fantastic opportunity for a self-motivated, detail-oriented designer with a passion for user-centered design and accessibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Design creative assets for both print and digital communications.
- Produce high-quality typography-driven layouts for documents, marketing materials, and campaigns.
- Prepare documents for print production, ensuring correct formats and specifications.
- Create accessible PDFs that comply with WCAG guidelines.
- Develop engaging visual content for social media and digital channels.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines and client requirements.
- Collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders to ensure designs meet user needs and communication goals.
Candidate Profile
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree in Graphic Design or equivalent professional experience.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating user-centered design and typographic excellence.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite: InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat.
- Experience in creating accessible digital documents compliant with WCAG standards.
- Understanding of current digital and social media trends.
- Strong communication skills to interpret client requirements and articulate design solutions.
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage projects independently.
Desirable Attributes:
Previous experience in a higher education or multi-stakeholder environment.
Familiarity with inclusive and accessible design practices.

Work Environment & Team
The Graphic Designer will join the Creative & Print Services team within the External Relations Directorate. You will report to the Head of Creative & Print Services and collaborate with senior designers, project managers, and University stakeholders to deliver high-impact communications.
