About the Role
The University of Sussex invites applications for a Research Fellow to join an MRC-funded transdisciplinary hub focused on decarbonising the commissioning and delivery of healthcare.
You will work on Sub-theme 4: Digital and Remote Care Pathways, which explores how digitalisation can contribute to sustainable and low-carbon models of healthcare delivery.
The research will focus on identifying, analysing, and evaluating sustainable innovations in digital healthcare pathways, with the goal of informing policy and transforming healthcare systems.
You will be based within a collaborative environment led by Professor Mahmood Bhutta at the Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS) and Professor Dimitra Petrakaki at the University of Sussex Business School, working as part of a multidisciplinary team of researchers and practitioners.
About You
You will have (or be near completion of) a PhD in a field relevant to digital health, healthcare innovation, sustainability, health policy, or related disciplines, or equivalent professional research experience.
Essential skills and experience include:
- Strong research background in digital or remote healthcare pathways.
- Ability to work independently and manage your own workload effectively.
- Experience of collaborative research within interdisciplinary teams.
- Demonstrated ability to influence policy, practice, or advocacy work to deliver real-world impact.
You will be an effective communicator, able to engage with academic, clinical, and policy stakeholders, and contribute to high-quality research outputs.
About the Faculty
You will join the University of Sussex Business School
— a leading research-driven and interdisciplinary faculty known for innovation and sustainability in business and management research.
The Business School comprises five departments:
