Position: Resident Doctor Oncology
Location: Leaders in Oncology Care, 95-97 Harley Street LOC, London W1G 6AF.
Contract Type: Full-time (FTE) or part-time, with a variety of shift options (Monday through Friday: operational hours are generally 8-6pm or 10-8pm). Rotas provide for flexible part-time contract commitments. Shifts are 12 or 24-hour, and can be block booked to accommodate outside commitments.

About the role:
Your role as a Clinical Fellow/Specialty Registrar is critical to the outstanding work of our colleagues, and you will provide medical coverage for the outpatient chemotherapy day unit.
This includes caring for oncology and haematology patients who are new to the treatment suite, those who need a medical review, and clerking unanticipated admissions from the CDU. You will also be in charge of reviewing outpatient prescriptions and protocols and approving medications. You will build strong relationships with a huge number of outpatients while also collaborating closely with world-renowned medical specialists.
The outpatient chemotherapy day unit is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. (some sites may vary). Medical coverage by a resident is currently provided for 8 hours during this time, however hours and start times are flexible and open to modification.
Clinical Duty and Responsibilities:
This is a Clinical Fellow/Specialty Registrar level position that will cover the LOC (Leaders in Oncology Care) division of HCA Healthcare. You will be responsible for both inpatient and outpatient Chemotherapy/Oncology/End-of-Life care units.
- You will fully support the consultants and specialist nursing staff in delivering a high standard of patient care, including communicating any changes to a patient’s medical management plan, as agreed with their named consultant, to the nurse in charge and relevant members of the multidisciplinary team.
- Supporting new admissions to the unit as quickly as feasible, clerking patients and new medicine charts, and notifying the designated consultant of the patient’s arrival.
- To accompany consultants on ward rounds of their patients upon request.
- To perform routine basic clinical skills for inpatients as needed, such as venepuncture, drawing blood cultures, peripheral IV cannulation, arterial and venous blood gas sampling, tube insertions, and urethral catheter insertion, and to assist nursing staff in developing and performing these clinical skills independently.
- You will be able to participate in audits, MDT education, and education and training in order to continually improve and aim for excellence for both staff and patients.
- Responsible for obtaining patients’ consent for surgeries and treatments.
What we seek in a suitable candidate:
- MBBS medical qualification.
- An extra post-graduate qualification (FRCA/FICM/MRCEM/MRCP or similar) is desirable.
- Doctors must be the equivalent level of ST3 or above.
- Fully registered with the GMC and currently licenced to practise.
- Must be ALS trained (we may arrange training if necessary).
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work together in a multidisciplinary situation.
- Ability to operate effectively in a team setting while also acting on one’s own initiative.
- Oncology training through the NHS is desirable.
- Patient experience with chemotherapy, oncology, and end-of-life care in both inpatient and outpatient settings is desirable.
