About the Role
Main Duties:
- Ensure excellent outcomes and provision across all areas and key stages of the school.
- Teach to a high standard across the 11-18 age range.
- Support the Headteacher in developing and communicating a clear vision and ethos for the school.
- Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion, ensuring anti-discriminatory practices are implemented across all aspects of your work.
- Provide strategic and operational leadership for key aspects of the school’s activities, with a focus on inclusion (areas to be discussed with the successful candidate).
- Lead rigorous self-reviews of areas within the school, contribute to the development and implementation of the School Improvement Plan, and monitor its success.
- Line manage Assistant Headteachers and oversee the quality of provision in linked departments and year groups.
- Conduct regular reviews of school activities to identify strengths and weaknesses, implementing effective interventions as necessary.
- Foster a culture of sharing best practices throughout the school and with other schools/organisations to secure excellent outcomes for all.
- Ensure that the school’s policies, systems, organisation, and processes are efficient, effective, and well-considered.
- Develop a balanced and coherent curriculum that meets the needs of all students.
- Maintain high standards of behaviour, ensuring a safe, calm, and well-ordered environment for both students and staff.
- Champion the progress and personal development of vulnerable, disadvantaged, and underachieving students.
- Support the development of high-performing teams by training, developing, and coaching staff.
- Identify training needs and contribute to the delivery of training programs.
- Collaborate with the Headteacher, Governors, and colleagues to recruit and retain high-quality staff.
- Ensure the school meets all statutory safeguarding requirements, reflecting best practice in safeguarding provision.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships within the school community.
- Chair and attend meetings, working groups, and committees as required.
- Respond calmly and promptly to urgent issues and emergencies.
- Contribute to a rigorous Performance Management process.
- Assist the Headteacher with matters of staff discipline, grievance, capability, and sickness absence procedures.
- Contribute to the effective daily running of the school and deputise for the Headteacher when needed.
- Undertake other tasks as reasonably required to meet the changing needs of the school.
