£45.6 - £56.0 / year

Job Description

The University of Reading is an interesting and active place to work, with possibilities to participate in a wide range of projects, including business systems, high-profile research groups, museums and archives, and a working farm. The University provides a large 26-day holiday allowance, as well as 6-day extended closures over Christmas and Easter. We will offer a flexible, friendly, and dynamic working environment, as well as adequate yearly leave, training possibilities, and the opportunity to work in an atmosphere with a wide range of challenges.

The Operations team supports these new services by supplying critical systems and services throughout the infrastructure layer, which serve as the foundation for all IT services at the university.

We are looking for a Senior Network Engineer to join the team and manage our network transformation to the vxlan paradigm, with Juniper Mist AI as the foundation. Working with current technology on an enterprise scale is a rare opportunity to learn and make a difference for the network’s clients.

To be considered for the post, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Significant experience managing Juniper switching and routing.
  • Experience operating in an enterprise or university context.
  • Ability to demonstrate expertise of Network Access Control (NAC) products.
  • Experience working with enterprise WiFi.

Additionally, you should be able to

  • Show how documentation fits into the service delivery paradigm.
  • Good communication abilities, especially the presenting of technical concerns to non-specialist audiences.
