Senior Sister/Charge Nurse (Band 7) – Neuro Intensive Care Unit

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Senior Sister/Charge Nurse to join our dynamic and dedicated Neuro Intensive Care team at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. We are seeking an innovative leader to support the delivery of exceptional care in our critical care environment.

About the Role
Our Neuro Intensive Care Unit (NCCU) forms part of the larger Neurosciences and Major Trauma critical care service, which has 27 beds providing specialized care for patients with acute brain injuries and major trauma across East Anglia and beyond. As Senior Sister/Charge Nurse, you will play a pivotal role in the leadership, management, and coordination of the nursing team, ensuring that critically ill patients and their families receive safe, effective, and high-quality care.

In this role, you will lead and develop the nursing team within the ICU, working collaboratively with senior medical and allied health professionals to deliver outstanding patient care. You will also be responsible for carrying the Critical Care Coordinator bleep, which includes overseeing patient admissions and transfers, ensuring safe staffing levels, and supporting critical care services across the Trust.

Available Positions
We are offering one permanent position and two 12-month fixed-term/secondment opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the nursing team and coordinate care for critically ill patients.

Ensure the delivery of high-quality, safe, and effective care to patients and their families.

Develop and lead nursing practice within the NCCU.

Collaborate with senior medical and allied professionals to enhance patient outcomes.

Carry the Critical Care Coordinator bleep and manage admissions, transfers, and staffing across critical care units.
