Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a clinically focused, energetic, highly motivated, and versatile Pharmacist to join our team. We offer flexible positions available at our Royal Lancaster Infirmary facility, which is just minutes from the city core.
Applications are accepted from trainee pharmacists who will be registering soon as well as pharmacists with expertise in other areas of pharmacy, with training provided to assist with the transition.
The successful candidate will join our ward-based clinical team and will have the opportunity to develop clinical skills through carefully managed rotations in various inpatient specialties such as cardiology, respiratory, orthopaedics, paediatrics, general surgery, and acute medicine, as well as department-based specialist roles such as aseptic, oncology, homecare, and clinical trial. We encourage all of our junior chemists to pursue a clinical diploma and will assist them with this.
The trust may be able to sponsor a skilled worker visa and, if necessary, provide relocation assistance.
You will collaborate with our technical team to analyse medication reconciliations, optimise patients’ medications, and verify discharge prescriptions using our trust-wide Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration technology.
As a member of the Pharmacists team, you will occasionally be the responsible pharmacist in our automated dispensary and will eventually be part of the weekend rota. At present time, band 6 Pharmacists are not required to participate in the on-call rotation.
We will help you complete a clinical diploma to advance your clinical knowledge and abilities.
We operate from three main hospitals: Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI) and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as several community health care facilities such as Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI provide a variety of General Hospital services, including comprehensive Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care Units, and Consultant-led services.
WGH offers a variety of General Hospital services, as well as an Urgent Treatment Centre, to aid with non-life-threatening ailments such as broken bones and minor infections.
Outpatients, diagnostics, treatments, day cases, and inpatient surgery are all available at each of the three major hospitals. In addition, community centres across Morecambe Bay provide a variety of local outreach services and diagnostics.
Adult community services are available at people’s homes, community centres, clinics, general practices, community hospitals, and our main hospitals. Our goal is to work with people to help them stay independent, improve their health, and manage their illnesses by providing high-quality care, advice, and support.
