Technical Services Engineer

The Position

Galliard Estate Management (GEM), a division of Galliard Homes, is seeking to hire a number of Technical Service Engineers on a full- or part-time basis. The Technical Service Engineers will work across multiple developments in London, operating as a mobile team with a base office in Canary Wharf.

A Technical Services Engineer is a member of the Technical Services team and is responsible for delivering a variety of planned preventative maintenance tasks to GEM-managed residential premises.

Duties include:

  • Routinely inspect and test fire doors in compliance with Regulation 10 of the Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022 and best practices as stated by the FDIS Inspectors certification.
  • Perform routine maintenance on associated fire safety equipment such as fire detection systems, AOVs, and emergency lights, ensuring compliance with standards and best practices.
  • Perform water hygiene procedures such as temperature checks, tank inspections, and outlet flushing.
  • Execute service, maintenance, and repair duties as directed by management, ensuring that all work meets high standards and adheres to protocols and RAMS.
  • Assist in compiling specifications for any extra, quoted, or remedial work that may emerge.
  • Maintain comprehensive electronic records, adhere to the specified preventative maintenance schedule, and use the CAFM platform for job assignments and reporting.
  • Complete and submit inspection report sheets on time, and amend asset schedules and tags as needed.
  • Support inventory management for supplies, tools, and equipment, and promptly report any safety or risk-related findings.
  • Ensure that GEM policies, procedures, risk assessments, and method statements are followed, and take part in any required training or certification programmes.
  • Participate in ongoing professional growth by attending internal training courses and toolbox talks.
  • Participate in sample work inspections, as determined by the management team.
  • Maintain compliance with legislation and industry best practices while meeting performance targets for project delivery, billable hours, and key performance indicators.
  • Serve as a point of contact for clients, building strong relationships and boosting the company’s reputation.

The person

The Technical Services Engineer will have past experience working on residential projects, as well as in building, maintenance, or a technical function. They will also meet the following requirements:

Essential:

  • Must have a solid understanding of new residential and mixed-use complexes.
  • Maintain a polite and professional demeanour.
  • Smart and presentable appearance.
  • Must be able to complete the relevant vocational training courses, including FDIS Fire Door Inspector certification.

Desirable:

  • FDIS Fire Door Inspector Qualified.
  • Previous experience as a Fire Door Inspector or in inspecting fire safety systems.
