JOB SUMMARY
The UHB pharmacy department, in cooperation with Women’s and Children’s Services, is pleased to announce the opportunity to apply for an Advanced Clinical Pharmacist position at UHB. We are looking for a chemist with experience in paediatrics, neonates and/or maternity services who wants to advance their career or move to a tertiary hospital setting.
This new job will work across the Trust, supported by two Specialist Pharmacists in Paediatrics and Neonates, two Senior Support Pharmacists, a clinical support rotational pharmacist, and a Specialist Clinical Pharmacy Technician, and will give strategic leadership to the service.

Main responsibilities, tasks, and abilities required
This position will necessitate strategic leadership and management responsibility for the continuing creation and sustainability of a high-quality, innovative clinical service to support Women’s and Children’s service delivery across UHB campuses.
The position is ideal for someone with a proven track record of providing advanced care services inside a pharmacy in a healthcare setting. Someone who is an expert in paediatric and neonatal medicine, eager to adopt new ideas and gain national recognition through contributions beyond the organisation to local (with other Trusts and relevant regional networks) and national strategic levels.
The Advanced Clinical Pharmacist — Women’s and Children’s Services will be in charge of managing, leading, risk management, medication optimisation monitoring, and clinical audit.
The role’s strategic objectives will include:
*Identify, prioritise, and contribute to the creation of new services within the Trust, as well as manage the necessary transformation process.
*To guarantee that pharmaceutical care issues are properly conveyed to the specialty and that commercial plans are developed to advance the service.
*To pursue pharmacy research possibilities as an expert in the field.
*To help deliver a thorough education programme on pharmacological aspects of paediatric and neonatal medicine to all Trust staff, clinical and non-clinical.

Qualifications
Essential
* BSc, BPharm, MPharm, or equivalent pharmacy degree
* Postgraduate qualification in clinical pharmacy practice, or other postgraduate qualification/experience.
* A leadership/management qualification or similar experience.
* Member of the General Pharmaceutical Council.
Desirable
* Motivated to pursue consultant accreditation with the RPS.
* Independent prescriber or wish to work towards this qualification after appointment.
Experience
Essential
* Significant experience as a clinical pharmacy practitioner in an acute hospital pharmacy context, specialising in Women’s and Children’s services.
* Experience working in a multidisciplinary team.
* Demonstrable experience managing workers.
* Capable of managing budgets and implementing cost-cutting initiatives
* Proven experience supporting paediatrics, newborns, and women’s services.
* Proven experience in training and education.
* Identify and apply best practices.
* Thorough understanding of the specialty and medications used in paediatrics, newborns, and obstetrics.
* Understanding and implementing national and local priorities.
* Shows awareness of and commitment to the Clinical Governance Agenda.
