Education and Professional Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • Registration at the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
  • Educational Supervisor Training Course, Assessor A1 certificate, or equivalent
  • Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician
  • Accreditation in medications Management (AIMM), Medicines Optimisation Programme (MOP), or comparable applicable expertise in the medications management function.

Desirable requirements.

  • Foundation degree, management qualification, clinical diploma, or working towards

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Considerable post-qualification experience in medicines administration on a ward in a hospital environment
  • Considerable post-qualification experience in a hospital pharmacy environment
  • Previous assessable managerial experience and training
  • Experience performing appraisals with feedback.
  • Experience in recruiting and selecting additional technical workers.

Desirable requirements.

  • Previous assessable experience in project management
  • Experience with performance management

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Computer literate, including Microsoft software packages such as pharmaceutical systems.
  • Experience working closely with other healthcare professionals (HCPs), such as nursing staff and operational managers.

Desirable requirements.

  • Experience with high-level / multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings
  • Experience with implementing a clinical governance agenda at the ward level.
  • Evidence of practice research or audit work and establishing metrics / key performance indicators (KPIs), with the ability to assess and interpret data for financial and service performance reports.
  • Excellent professional and leadership skills with experience managing high-performing teams.

  • Proven ability to create standard operating procedures (SOPs) for a variety of tasks.
