Job Description.

Role Summary: Manufacturing Engineering Manager.

  • Maintain technical accountability and daily line management for a specific ME team, which delivers defined projects, manufacturing cell support, and related work packages.
  • Provide leadership, accountability, and output for program milestones and manufacturing cell deliverables.
  • Own and be accountable for high-value business projects that offer productivity, cost-effectiveness, and capacity as needed.
  • Define and implement plans for developing required skill sets within the manufacturing engineering team.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the health, workload, capacity, and execution of a team of Manufacturing Engineers.
  • Exercise the recognised supervisory responsibilities for PPG, career and professional development, recruitment, and training.
  • Actively foster team development and progress, as well as a culture of continuous improvement and data-driven decision-making.
  • Develop the requirements for engineering disciplines and their relationships with other activities in order to deliver business and Manufacturing Engineering Team performance.
  • Act as a mentor to junior MEs.
  • Ensure full support for production cells in accordance with delivery obligations, and lead the team in delivering validated design specifications and shop floor application of new products, tools, or equipment to ensure design integrity is maintained.
  • Develop the use of maturity and risk mitigation techniques, such as MRL and PFMEA, within your area of responsibility. Use the information gathered to drive improvement projects.
  • Keep track of pertinent toll gate reviews. Proactively review product and process needs for future toll gates and take steps to ensure readiness.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree from an authorised institution or college (or a high school diploma/GED with expertise in electronics or electromechanical manufacturing).
  • Additional years of experience with production processes and equipment in a world-class manufacturing setting.
  • Chartered Engineer status, or evidence of work towards or completion of C.Eng.
  • Awareness of SMT and PCB assembly would be a significant benefit.
