JOB SUMMARY

About the Borough

Sutton has plenty to be proud of, both as a council and as a borough. This includes high levels of resident satisfaction, the quality of our services, our achievement in resolving our financial concerns thus far, the way we involve and engage residents on major borough issues, and the enthusiastic and motivated personnel that we employ.

Looking ahead, there are plans for new homes and schools, as well as the development of the London Cancer Hub, and the Council is regarded as a driving force within the South London Partnership, which is comprised of five outer south west London boroughs focused on strategic growth, regeneration and investment.

All of this reflects a strong track record and an authority that is ambitious and determined to make further changes for the borough. Our business plan, Ambitious for Sutton, outlines our vision for Sutton’s future. This strategic plan will change our outcomes, services, and impact on residents in order to make Sutton a great location to live, work, and raise a family.

Sutton is located in Zone 5, and it is less than 30 minutes by rail from downtown London. South and south west London are also easily accessible by public transport. There are ten train stations that serve significant districts in the borough, with direct connections to London Victoria, London Bridge, London Blackfriars, and St Pancras International. Sutton also offers direct rail links to Epsom, Dorking, Guildford, and Horsham, as well as Wimbledon for an Underground interchange and West Croydon for the Overground. There is also a large road network that allows quick and easy access to the M25 and M23.
