What is the role?

We have lofty net-zero ambitions, and our business is expanding to support our plan. We are searching for graduates with a degree in Electrical Engineering who have innovative ideas, methodologies, and solutions to help us achieve net-zero. You’ll be involved in some intriguing initiatives that will allow you to help create, improve, and maintain our network. You will be involved in initiatives and activities that will help us ensure that our network is not just operationally sound, but also considers innovative new technologies and efficient ways of distributing energy to all clients.

Our distribution engineering graduate degree offers real-world exposure through a rotation of internships in various projects and teams. Throughout the two-year curriculum, you will be supported by our Graduate curriculum Manager and a business mentor, who will provide direction and support to help you achieve your maximum potential. You will work towards becoming a chartered engineer and will be supported by a professional chartered engineer who will share their experience. We have an amazing opportunity for a graduate to begin training in our Control Room in Perth. For this position, you must be located within a 35-mile radius of the Perth office. Alternatively, we have a chance to work in Aberdeen in an engineering post that will primarily be field-based in an operational engineering capacity.

You will bring passion and new thinking to issue solving, as well as a thorough understanding of the SSEN business and the technology required to guarantee it meets the ever-changing demands of the UK’s energy infrastructure. You will help keep the lights on and play a role in achieving net-zero.

What do I need to do to join?

As the company grows and expands internationally, our graduates must be adaptable in order to embrace change and stay up with the business’s rapid expansion.

Our graduates think quickly and actively seek to fill knowledge gaps. You should be comfortable working towards and setting challenging individual goals, as well as using your own initiative to overcome obstacles.

Ideally, you will have a 2:2 BEng in Electrical Engineering.

– Candidates for the Control Room role must be located within a 35-mile radius of the Perth headquarters by the commencement of the programme in September 2024. Candidates for this position will additionally be needed to receive SC level screening from the UK government.
