JOB SUMMARY

 

**Pharmacy Technician – Clinical Role at University Hospitals Birmingham**

Are you a committed Pharmacy Technician eager to enhance patient care? If so, University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust invites you to consider joining our dynamic Pharmacy team at Solihull Hospital.

As Solihull Hospital expands its services, including the addition of a new elective hub, we are seeking Clinical Pharmacy Technicians to join us. This expansion will lead to an additional 11,500 operations annually, a new surgical ward, and enhanced support services.

Role Overview:

As a Clinical Pharmacy Technician, you will provide high-quality clinical care and a safe, effective medicines optimisation service. You’ll work closely with the Clinical Pharmacy team, acting as a bridge between Pharmacy and clinical areas, and establishing key relationships within the multidisciplinary team. You’ll also counsel patients on medication use, treatment understanding, and adherence.

Key Responsibilities:

– Deliver clinical care and medicines optimisation services
– Collaborate with the Clinical Pharmacy team
– Act as a communication link with the multidisciplinary team
– Provide patient counselling on medication and treatment adherence

Requirements:

Essential:

– GPhC registration
– Dispensing Accuracy Accreditation (West Midlands scheme or equivalent)
– Continued Professional Development evidence
– Accredited Checking Technician qualification or equivalent
– Level 3 Diploma in Pharmacy Technician Principles and Practice, BTEC Level 3 in Pharmaceutical Science, or equivalent

Desirable:

– Experience as a Clinical Pharmacy Technician or in a similar role
– Experience in mentoring staff and setting up new procedures
– Understanding of ward environments and NHS policies

Experience:

 

– Minimum of two years pre-qualification work experience in Pharmacy
– Current or recent practice as a Band 4 Pharmacy Technician or equivalent in an acute setting
– Significant experience in hospital pharmacy, including knowledge of Good Distribution Practice and Health and Safety regulations

– Full-time (37.5 hours per week)
– Part-time (22.5 hours per week, Monday to Wednesday)
