We have a chance to join our Component Engineering Team within the Sustainment Group to assist with component selection for new projects, production, and aftermarket service. As a highly driven and energetic individual, you would join our Cheltenham team to solve problems with components used in the design and aftermarket.

You’ll be a self-starter who enjoys working with others or on your own initiative, and you’ll always strive to be innovative and go above and beyond to help us maintain our exceptional service. You’ll also be eager to advance and take on new challenges and knowledge, resulting in increased responsibility and seniority.

Job Description.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Identify and collaborate closely with the Hardware Engineering development teams to help choose electronic components from chosen strategic sources.
  • Create and maintain electrical and electromechanical component records in the company databases.
  • Investigate, review, and obtain technical documentation regarding components.
  • Approve novel components for use in system applications in the defence and aerospace industries.
  • Provide technical help to our Supply Chain for obsolescence issues, alternative part recommendations, and end-of-life solutions.
  • To minimise the impact on the business, review product change notices from component manufacturers and coordinate with the design and sustainability teams.
  • Support programmes on upgrading, qualification, anti-counterfeiting, COTS assembly, atmospheric radiation, obsolescence, long-term storage, and lead-free.
  • Working well with numerous departments throughout the organisation will be critical to your success, and you will develop relationships with colleagues in Supply Chain and Quality to serve as a liaison between them and the engineering community.

Required Qualifications

  • You will have an HNC or higher qualification in an electronic discipline, or an equivalent degree of applicable experience and component knowledge.

You will be highly organised and communicative, as well as active and self-motivated, with the capacity to manage your own responsibilities and priorities.
