Job Title: Building Maintenance Supervisor
Salary: £27,900 – £39,100.
Location: Duxford, Cambridge
Contract: Permanent, 35 hours each week.

We are now looking for a Building Maintenance Supervisor to work with a small team to ensure excellence in the design, compliant installation, operation and maintenance of the Group’s mechanical and electrical systems, ensuring assets are safe, secure and in good condition.

About the role
Group Print & Operations meets our customers’ global needs by printing, packing, and securely shipping millions of examination items. We are also in charge of maintaining the life-changing scripts returned by our students and preparing them for physical or digital assessment.
As Building Maintenance Supervisor, you will be responsible for executing continuous improvement ideas on electrical and mechanical plant in our Group Print and Operations distribution centres, providing opportunities for innovation.
Key responsibilities:
Team Supervision
Lead and organise the Building Maintenance Engineers/Technicians at the GPaO Engineering teams’ controlled facilities.
Conduct performance reviews and appraisals for all direct employees, and discuss any development and training requirements that may arise.
Support the Assistant Engineering Manager by supervising the Engineering team’s activities to ensure the highest safety standards, including regulatory compliance.
Promote a culture of safety and continual improvement within the engineering department.
Building & Equipment Maintenance
Coordinate and carry out the annual Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedule, as well as any reactive maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment, systems, and assets.
Plan, estimate, and manage electrical installation, testing, and reactive maintenance repair projects while keeping well documented audit records.
Collaborate with the Assistant Engineering Manager to design and carry out various maintenance, small works, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Manage on-site contractors to ensure they are properly inducted and briefed on the task they are expected to do in accordance with the Company’s norms and processes.
Contribute to the cascade of knowledge on site systems and infrastructure to guarantee that the buildings and equipment operate optimally.
Develop safe operating processes and systems for mechanical and electrical equipment maintenance, both scheduled and reactive.
There will be a requirement to engage in an after-hours rota call out system, and while this is a day-to-day role, there may be the odd need to work shifts.
About You
You will have achieved NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in leadership or supervision, as well as a trade certification in electrical, mechanical, or construction.
Electrical certification to an acceptable grade: certified to NVQ level 3 or equivalent to JIB. Approved electrician grade. Include at least one of the following:
Certified City and Guilds 2382 in accordance with current IET wiring rules (BS7671).
Certified City and Guilds 2391 inspection and testing, or its new equivalent qualification.
IOSH Working Safely (minimum) – Managing Safely or an equivalent (preferred).
Computer literacy and expertise with MS Office (required)
Competent and capable of working at heights (the usage of MEWPs is needed).
The ideal candidate demonstrates strong problem-solving and analytical ability. A flexible working style is required, as well as strong interpersonal, teamwork, and customer service skills.
